Cupping Therapy

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient healing method where cups are placed on the skin to create suction, pulling the skin and underlying tissues upward. This technique is used to increase blood flow, relieve muscle tension, and promote healing.

How Does it Work?

When the cups are applied, a vacuum is created, pulling the skin and superficial muscle layers into the cup. The suction created by the cups improves circulation, reduces pain, and promotes healing. It also enhances lymphatic drainage and stimulates nerve endings.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Possible side effects of cupping are bruising and skin irritation. Both should heal on their own in 7-10 days. There is also a small risk of infection. After a session, the practitioner may send you home with an antibiotic ointment and bandage, if necessary, to help reduce this risk.

  • Cupping is safe to try and could work with an existing treatment plan. Like all therapies, it's important to visit a trained and licensed professional. And you should consult with your doctor before trying any new medical treatments.
